Aim of the event

Broad aims were discussed at FNF in 2013 here Planning

Since then we have been invited to a pre-CPDP event organised by the CPDP Programme Cttee at the Microsoft office on Tuesday, 21st Jan. The aim of this event is apparently, if not explicitly, how to better integrate the views of civil society in coming years into the CPDP conference, which has traditionally been more academic in focus.   • 1.30 pm start
  • 2-3 pm - Panel discussion - sections include:
    • The 2014 NGO agenda with Simon Davies presenting an update of the Saul Alinsky campaigning principles;
    • Privacy aspects of drones used for civilian purposes to anticipate the upcoming EU policy steps;
    • European Parliament’s recent preliminary report on NSA surveillance
  • 3-4 pm - Ciara Burbridge, Parliamentary Advisor to C. Moraes MEP: European Parliament’s recent preliminary report on NSA and Member States surveillance programmes
  • 4-5 pm - slot 3 Closed slot organised together with Microsoft: privacy, data access, and surveillance in the interconnected society, discussion with Brad Smith
  • 5 PM Adjourn

NGOs / Activists

  • As space is limited, there is little outreach for more participants. Kirsten, Thomas, Anna, Dennis, Wim, have expressed their intention to attend. Kai-Uwe, Lara, Tobias, Michael and Frank have been named as coming to CPDP.
