Aim of the event

Broad aims were discussed at FNF in 2013 here Planning

Since then we have been invited to a pre-CPDP event organised by CPDP, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Law, Science, Technology & Society Studies), EDRi, Access and the Panoptykon Foundation at the Microsoft office on Tuesday, 21st Jan. The aim of this UNCAMP is to "bring together privacy advocates and members of NGOs to discuss privacy protections and surveillance methods in a digital age and develop strategies to address the key challenges."

RSVP is required, as space is limited. To register for this event, please contact Imge Ozcan:

• 1:30-2 pm - Welcoming remarks and introduction

• 2-4 pm - Panel discussion - sections include:
  • The 2014 NGO agenda with Simon Davies presenting an update of the Saul Alinsky campaigning principles;
  • Privacy aspects of drones used for civilian purposes to anticipate the upcoming EU policy steps;
  • Keynote address by Ciara Burbridge, Parliamentary Advisor to C. Moraes MEP, on the European Parliament’s recent preliminary report on NSA surveillance followed by a discussion

• 4 pm Adjourn

What issues to address?

• results of the LIBE committee's Inquiry on Electronic Mass Surveillance of EU Citizens, News-story on the 52-page draft report by the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE)
• some videos from the EP inquiry sessions
• current state of data protection reform

• Thursday, 23rd Jan. - Continuation of strategizing for Freedom Not Fear 2014 and our plans for Friday on CPDP at La Mort Subite, rue Montagne-aux-Herbes Potagères 7, 1000 Brussels

NGOs / Activists

• As space is limited, there is little outreach for more participants. Kirsten, Thomas, Anna, Dennis, Javier, Wim, have expressed their intention to attend. Kai-Uwe, Lara, Tobias and Frank have been named as coming to CPDP.
