Join us: Freedom not Fear 2016MissionDecisions taken in Brussels impact our every-day lives. The EU is passing disproportionate governmental surveillance measures. Therefore, the Freedom not Fear conference in Brussels is a place where civil rights activists meet to discuss change. We invite you to join us for about three days of discussions, networking, protest & meetings with activists & politicians. We say NO to surveillance, data retention and PNR and demand the respect of our fundamental rights in the digital environment. Read our full list of demands from 2014. Costs and applicationFreedom Not Fear Brussels is for free and you don't have to register – just come, join and participate! FNF Brussels is non-profit, non-commercial and organised by volunteers who are working for free. This is only possible, when people help organise! However, if you have to travel to Brussels, and can't afford the costs for transportation, hotel and meals: There are travel subsidies from the European Parliament, thanks to the MEP's Julia Reda, Jan Philipp Albrecht and Joe Weidenholzer. If you want to apply for these, please register here. UPDATE: The registration period for travel allowances is over, we also cannot accept waitlist registrations anymore. However, there might be free places in case of cancellations of other participants. Ask Detlev (<enkode>detlev.sieber@digitalcourage.de</enkode>, who is in charge of the travel allowances) during the weekend! When and where?When?14–17 October 2016 (Friday–Monday). Freedom Not Fear starts on Friday evening. The official ending of the meeting shall be on Sunday evening, but there will be some more "action" on Monday, 17 October, as some people want to organize some meetings with people from the EU Commission and Parliament. Where?Since 2011, FNF takes place at “Mundo B”, Rue d'Edimbourg 26. Mundo B ist the home of some non-governmental organisations and a very lovely place with lots of space for our meeting. More international events besides Brussels… more soon Communication/Contact/Press
